St. Anne Students Honoured By Royal Canadian Legion

The Royal Canadian Legion was at St. Anne Catholic Elementary School to celebrate the many winners of the Remembrance Day Poster and Essay Contest. Tyler Rideout, Grade 8 Student won the Gold Medal for his Remembrance Day Essay.  The school community came together to congratulate Tyler and had the pleasure of hearing Tyler’s very moving essay first hand.  Tyler’s essay has now been submitted Provincially. 

Carousel Event for parents, educators and community partners!

Our annual Carousel event hosted by the Catholic Parent Involvement Committee is fast approaching! We are very excited to welcome all parents, staff and community partners to this event for an evening of networking, learning and community building!

When: March 5, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Where: St. David School, 549 Frood Road

Carousel topics will include: Dealing with Anxiety, Indigenous Education Programming, Coding, Mathematics, The Leader in Me, Supporting Students with Autism, Human Trafficking, Vaping Building Resilience, speech and language services and special Education Services, including the IEP.

St. Anne Students Celebrate the True Meaning of Christmas as a Faith Community!

On Tuesday, December 18, 2018 the St. Anne Catholic School community came together to celebrate Christmas Mass at Our Lady of Peace Church.  Students in grade 7 and 8 enacted the Nativity story while students in grades 4, 5 and 6 shared their gift of song.  “This was a special celebration of faith, family and community.  We are so fortunate to come together to celebrate our faith and experience the true meaning of Christmas,” said Alice Desormeaux, FDK educator.  

Sudbury Catholic Schools take over LEGO Tournament

We wish to congratulate all students who participated in the City-wide First LEGO League tournament at Science North on Saturday, December 1. The schools of Holy Cross, Holy Trinity, St. Anne and St. James represented Sudbury Catholic Schools well at the tournament! We thank the students, their dedicated coaches and community sponsors who have helped grow the program over the years. Congratulations on an amazing effort by all! 

St. Anne students honour Treaty Recognition Week with special gathering

Students and staff at St. Anne School gathered in a community circle to learn about treaties and our Indigenous culture today. Jordan Mowat, Indigenous Support Worker shared his bundle, the history of Turtle Island and his incredible gift of song. “What a wonderful learning opportunity for all our students. They were able to experience first-hand the power of the drum and song,” said Alice Desormeaux, FDK teacher. This learning opportunity was part of the school’s Treaties Recognition week activities.

Turning points Essay Contest Winners honoured at annual event

Students, parents, teachers and invited guests gathered together on May 9, 2018 to celebrate the work done in this year’s Turning Points Essay Contest Awards ceremony. The essay contest stems from the Learning Partnership, which champions education systems in delivering innovative programs, research, policy initiatives and public engagement programs across Canada.

Turning Points allows students to reflect on their unique individual journeys and write powerful essays about a significant event or turning point in their lives. Winning students this year were from Marymount Academy, St. Charles College and St. Anne School.

Sudbury Catholic Students Awarded as 2018 Stars of Excellence!

On Monday, April 23 the Final Concert of the Kiwanis Music Festival recognized the outstanding festival performances of many of our students!

Many students won individual awards for their vocal and instrumental performances! The Sudbury Catholic Schools Band was awarded Top Elementary School Concert Band, while the Marymount Academy Brass Quartet was awarded for for Secondary School Brass Ensemble!

Sudbury Catholic Schools Elementary Instrumental Band receives Gold at Kiwanis Music Festival!

On March 27th, the band performed at the Kiwanis Music Festival and received a Gold standard! The band has grown over the years, and includes 5 schools (St. Benedict, St. Charles College, St. Anne, St. John and St. James) and over 100 band members!

The band also competed at the Northern Ontario Music Festival on March 1 where they received a Silver standard. Congratulations to all band members!

Register with our schools during our Board wide information night occurring Wednesday, January 24 at 6 p.m!

These Information sessions are available for parents wanting to register their child(ren) for school beginning September 2018 (For children turning 4 years of age on or before December 31, 2018). If you are unable to attend these sessions at your school, we encourage you to contact the school to register on an alternative date. Both regular (English) and French Immersion programming is available.
